@maxadamo I am not part of this project at all, but I would guess it's pretty unlikely they will enable bare HTTP, becuase that would impact the entire Broadcom Artifactory instance and is not a SaltStack-specific change. I think you will have more success hosting a nginx/apache/other reverse proxy, which caches all content. |

HTTPS isn’t necessary for repositories because the packages are signed with GPG keys. For example, Ubuntu, Debian, RedHat, CentOS and Fedora repositories are accessible via HTTP.
We use Squid, but if you use HTTPS we cannot cache locally, we hammer your servers and the download is pretty slow.
