Pages not working for existing Repositories after Renewal of Github Education

I have a Github Education plan (which includes github Pages). This was renewed in mid-December. Now I have the problem that existing repositories are no longer available in github pages.

When I create new repositories, I can use Pages as normal, as usual. Only existing pages don't work. The following message appears:
"Your billing plan does not support private pages. To restore this page, change its visibility to public or upgrade your billing plan."

The Page visibility is set to Public.

Since your GitHub Education benefits expired and renewed, this would have affected your ability to use GitHub Pages with private repositories.

To republish your site, you’ll need to configure your Pages sites from the settings page. Once there, you’ll need to select a source branch to enable GitHub Pages for the repository.

Dear @mecodeatlas,

thank you for the tip.

The problem is, that I cannot configure the pages sites from the settings page.
Everything in the documentation after Step 5 is not possible.

Pretty sure that this is a bug as it works for new repositories.

I added a screenshot that shows that there is no possibility to change settings.

I think I found a workaround (at least, it appears to work for me so far):

1. Made my repo public
2. Went to Pages and Disabled the page. I'm not sure if this was really necessary, but it was in the sequence I went through.
3. Changed the repo back to private (about 30 seconds after it was public --- my repo was a small personal project. There are/were no security concerns and I will eventually just make it public anyway).
